big city dwellers

In the 10 days we spent away from our small west Texas town, we managed to run into everything we love about the big cities we were in; all within a 48 hour period. Amazing, eclectic shopping and eating, running around town lake, free-live music, and funky, crazy people.

I think the best part was watching a 60 year old woman run around town lake in Austin in a sports bra and tee tiny shorts, with her 60 year old husband who was wearing no shirt. They were pushing a baby stroller. Did I mention they were rock hard built? Only in Austin, seriously. They made me look like the pillsbury dough girl.

In that same amount of time we managed to experience everything we dislike about cities with populations larger than say... 150,000. Traffic, commutes longer than fifteen minutes, humidity, and you can't see the west Texas stars at night.

All that being said nothing was as satisfying or comforting as the drive coming into Abilene Saturday as we returned home after 10 long days gone. I think Romulus was the most excited to be home in his backyard. And I was glad I didn't have his butt breath breathing down my neck as we were driving in the car anymore.

YOU CAN SEE THE STARTS HERE. Quit hating on my city. Heaven forbid you stay up past 9 and drive 20 minutes west. JEEZ. Love you :)
